Lunch with friends

On Friday June 26th, Care From the Heart joined forces with Vac n Sew and Ate3one food truck to donate lunches for Dominican Hospital and the SCPD as a token of gratitude for all their hard work and support of our community. The "Lunch for Friends" program is designed to acknowledge and recognize the many community heroes in Santa Cruz county who have worked hard during these challenging times by providing them with nutritious boxed lunches. This initiative was created as a way to thank our essential workers for their service and dedication to helping our community.

"Lunch for Friends" kicked off here at Dominican Hospital with a donation of 100 meals to our emergency, intensive care, and acute rehabilitation departments."

For every facemask that Vac N Sew sells at the store, a portion of each sale is donated. In turn, it’s matched dollar-for-dollar by Care From The Heart, to purchase lunches for a member of the community. These meals are then made from local fresh and seasonal cuisine, provided by Ate3one, a modern food truck that specializes in street food.

These lunches will be made available to over 150 employees of Dominican Hospital! In the true spirit of this program, this inaugural lunch distribution is to recognize the numerous hospital employees who have worked tirelessly serving the community during the COVID-19 pandemic. Our next stop was to donate boxed lunches to Police Chief Andy Mills and the members of the Santa Cruz Police Department.

We are planning to continue & extend this ground-breaking program to other first responder organizations and are eager to continue helping other local businesses.
