Specialized Dementia Care

When you or a loved one begins to face the reality of memory loss, it can be incredibly difficult and challenging. Dementia can become very debilitating, and those who have dementia are often left very dependent on their loved ones and other care providers. Memory loss can quickly affect all aspects of life, and you need a care provider who understands your unique difficulties and is able to help in all activities and functions of daily life. Failure to plan for proper dementia care can lead to difficult times for you and your family. Care From The Heart is here to help you determine the best home care options for you and your loved ones.

Our care providers have a wealth of training and experience, working with patients living with Alzheimer’s Disease, Parkinson’s Disease, Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), and other conditions. We are able to provide compassionate care that overcomes both mental and physical disabilities. Behavioral changes often coincide with dementia, creating challenging cases of emotional outbursts, depression, aggression, and other struggles. Our care providers are trained to handle these cases with compassion and patience.
Here is some useful information on three of the most common diseases associated with Dementia
Alzheimer’s
Alzheimer’s affects cognition and decision-making as well as memory. Because of this, it’s vital to have a trusted caregiver who can help manage daily tasks and ensure long-term concerns are properly addressed with focused care.
Parkinson’s
Dementia is typically a later symptom of Parkinson’s. Seniors with this condition will require a great deal of physical, mental, and emotional support day in and day out in order to live with the highest quality of life possible.
Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS)
Because ALS can impact verbal memory and the ability to communicate, it’s essential that you work with a caregiver who has the experience and training to provide hands-on care in a professional, caring relationship.

Pre and Post Operative Care

Recovering from surgery can be difficult for even the healthiest people, but for older clients, returning home following a hospital stay can be especially challenging. Adhering to specific discharge instructions is crucial to the recovery process. Clients may have a new complicated medication regimen, or be required to perform rehabilitation exercises which can be difficult to carry out on their own.

Our care team is trained to help clients follow a detailed post-op routine including timely medication reminders and can also assist with rehabilitation exercises helping them regain strength and mobility. Of course, too much activity after surgery can be painful, and having the ability to rest can also help aid the healing process. Our care providers can assist your loved one with daily tasks such as meal preparation and light household chores. They are also able to help clients recovering from surgery at home with transportation to and from follow-up appointments.

Cancer Care Support

Having an experienced care provider that will support and assist you through your cancer care, from diagnosis through the treatment process, is important. At Care From The Heart, we partner with the Katz Cancer Resource Center at Dominican Hospital to help you get the best care possible.

Bed, Toilet & Wheelchair Transfer Assistance

If your loved one struggles with getting in and out of bed or a wheelchair, our caregivers have specialized training to help safely transfer your loved one to/from bed, wheelchair, toilet, and chairs.

Family Matters caregivers are trained to provide compassionate aid with personal care while making sure clients feel comfortable and at ease. Whether your loved one requires minimal assistance getting out of bed or full hands-on assistance with using the toilet and getting around their home, we can customize an in-home care plan to best fit your family’s needs.
